Choosing the right Roofing Contractor

There are a few important steps that must be followed in order to select the right roofing contractor for you. Exall Roofing have outlined some of those steps below.

  1. Check if the Roofing Contractor has accreditations
Most reputable roofing contractors nowadays have accreditations from institutions such as CHAS, Safe Contractor, Competent Roofer, and NFRC. These professional bodies regulate the industry to make sure the company is compliant with health & safety and current roofing industry regulations.
  2. Get at least 3 quotes
Dont settle for the first quotation that you receive, get at least 3 quotations from separate roofing contractors.
  3. Does the price quoted seem too cheap?
If the price quoted seems too cheap to be true, then it probably is. The roofing contractor could be using inferior quality materials which don’t last as long as other materials. After all, “If a job’s worth doing it’s worth doing well”.
  4. Make sure the Roofing Contractor is fully insured and has public liability insurance
Ask the roofing contractor for a copy of their public and employers liability insurance. It’s perfectly normal to ask for this information. If they are unable to provide you with this, then they’re probably not insured and should be avoided at all costs.
  5. Does the Roofing Contractor offer a guarantee?
Most reputable roofing contractors will guarantee new and refurbishment work, which includes labour and materials for a set period of time. Guarantees can vary depending on the type of work undertaken, but usually range between 5 – 20 years. For your own piece of mind check that the roofing contractor offers a guarantee.
  6. Ask for 3 references from previous customers
If the roofing contractor provides a good service, then they’ll want to share their client’s glowing feedback with you.
