Grade II Listed Building Roof Refurbishment

20th October 2015

Exall Roofing were recently contracted to undertake a roof refurbishment on a Grade II listed building in Bushey, Hertfordshire.  The building has a second floor steel extension with steel rafters, with the roof itself made up of glass panels fitted between aluminium ribs.  At some time during the buidings past, a bitumen coating had been applied which had cracked and was letting in rain during wind assisted downpours.

Our client advised us that extra care had to be taken in order to remedy the ongoing issues with the roof as it was a listed building.  Exall Roofing used a Genie to access the top ridge which meant that we did not need to apply pressure to the glass itself.  We then carefully applied a moisture tolerant liquid, reinforced with glass fibres over the affected areas.

The roof refurbishment will ensure that the roof will last for many more years to come.
